Further to today’s announcement, where proof of English level is required for visa purposes,IELTS is now the only test selected by the UK government for people applying for UK visas around the world, and one of two tests selected for people applying in the UK. Under the new arrangements, IELTS tests for UK visas and immigration will be offered throughout the year in more than 100 key locations across the UK and globally. Tests will be available regularly in locations around the world where UK visas are issued. Details of these centres will be announced shortly at www.ielts.org/uk IELTS, which is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment, has played a key role in language testing for immigration purposes throughout its 25 year history. It is used for language testing for UK immigration and for migration to other, including Australia, Canada and New Zealand. IELTS is also accepted by more than 9,000 organisations around the world including universities and employers in many countries, as well as by professional bodies, and other government agencies.
